GFC's Founder and Honorary Chairman, Dr. Tang Sung-chang, formerly served as the Chairman of the Soochow University Alumni Association and as an adjunct professor in the Japanese and Economics departments. He has long been dedicated to supporting Soochow University's development. He has served as a trustee of the university since 1975 and was elected as the Chairman of the Board for this term.

On October 14th, a welcome luncheon for the new Chairman, Dr. Tang, was held at Pu-Jen Hall on the Campus. In his speech, Chairman Tang stated that facing the low birth rate in Taiwan and recruitment competition from public universities is a severe test for private universities. To serve as a strong backing for President Chan, Chairman Tang further announced that he would lead by example, donating NT$10 million as a dedicated fund to promote the "Scholarship for Freshmen with Excellent Entrance Grades" program. Participating alumni and distinguished guests responded enthusiastically, raising over NT$36 million initially

Chairman Tang expressed that he will lead Soochow to break into the top 3 private universities nationwide within 3 years, hoping that all Soochow people and friends can work together to recreate the glory of the university.
