Professor Tsai Ming-Jer’s Lecture: Discussing Corporate Positive Growth in Nature Through the Lens of COP28
In November 2023, the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP28 took place in Dubai. The World Climate Foundation (WCF) invited Dr. Tsai Ming-Jer, a professor at National Taiwan University's College of Bioresources and Agriculture and Director of NTU Experimental Forest Management Office, as a keynote speaker. In his speech, he introduced the concept of "biodiversity credit", an initiative that surpasses the level of carbon credits. Professor Tsai believes that companies should focus on higher-level biodiversity credit quotas, as addressing climate change effectively requires starting at the source.

The year 2024 has already proven to be the hottest year on record, with average temperatures rising 1.5°C above pre-industrial levels, leading to a series of natural disasters worldwide. Just last week in Valencia and Barcelona, Spain, a year’s worth of rain fell in one day, causing the deaths of over 200 people, underscoring the urgency of this issue.
Ahead of his upcoming trip to Azerbaijan for COP29, Professor Tsai, at the invitation of the GFC Educational Foundation, presented his COP initiatives to nearly 100 participants on November 8, including members of the GFC board of directors, senior officials, and individuals concerned about global warming. Attendees had the privilege of hearing firsthand insights from Professor Tsai and pledged to take action.
