Sponsorship of the Premier 12 – Taiwan Team triumphs as champion

GFC proudly sponsored the prestigious event, the "Premier 12," where the world's top 12 ranked national teams competed. Group B preliminary rounds were held at the Taipei Dome and Tianmu Baseball Stadium, with Japan and Taiwan ultimately advancing to face the top teams from Group A—Venezuela and the USA—in Tokyo to compete for the world championship.

On November 21, the four teams moved to the Tokyo Dome for the super round-robin tournament. Taiwan's first game was against Venezuela, where they suffered a 0-2 defeat. In the next match, Taiwan beat the USA 8-2, but lost 6-9 to Japan. However, Taiwan earned enough points to qualify for a final showdown against Japan for the championship title.

In this final match, with Japan boasting a perfect record of 8-0, home-field advantage, and strong support from a large crowd, Taiwan faced an uphill battle after losing to Japan in the two preliminary rounds. Despite being seen as the underdogs, Taiwan, supported by the hopes and blessings of the entire nation and a passionate fanbase that traveled to Tokyo at their own expense, fought valiantly. In a stunning upset, Taiwan defeated Japan 4-0, ending Japan's 27-game international winning streak. This victory marks Taiwan’s first world championship title in baseball, 32 years after winning the silver medal in Barcelona in 1992.

GFC is honor to sponsor this inspiring event and sharing in the joy of the nation's victory.
