GFC employee participated in the Escape from Alcatraz triathlon
GFC's employee and Director of QA, Mr. Peng Yu-Ying, has a hobby of participating in triathlons during his spare time, using them to make friends and strengthen his physique. Previously, he even assisted the company by participating in filming the "Elevator Ironman" promotional video using this sport.
During his vacation and with partial sponsorship from GFC, Peng, accompanied by Ms. Gao Yu-Mei, dressed in GFC's racing attire, participated in the 42nd Escape from Alcatraz triathlon held under the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco on June 9th. Approximately 2,000 participants and countless spectators attended the event. Five participants from Taiwan were also present, with the venue adorned with Taiwan’s flag.
In the harsh climate of Northern California, with temperatures at 12°C, water temperatures at 13°C, and strong winds and bay currents, Peng, coming from a subtropical region and adjusting to time differences, completed the Tri-Olympic full-distance race in 2 hours, 52 minutes, and 48 seconds. He ranked 280th out of 1,230 male participants and 18th out of 137 participants in the 50-54 age group, among 1,631 finishers. Gao achieved a time of 3 hours, 17 minutes, and 30 seconds, placing 151st among 396 female participants and also 18th among 55 participants in her age group.
Both were among the first five Taiwanese participants to finish. GFC is proud of Peng and Gao's achievements and expresses gratitude for them representing the company in custom-made racing attire adorned with GFC logo in both Chinese and English, as well as the national flag, bringing honor to our country and company.
